Nov. 14-18

Dear Parents and Students,

This week is College Week at Summit Academy. Students are allowed to wear their favorite college shirts, or jerseys this week.  All other dress code rules still apply.  I have sent home a small note from Summit to explain the "Penny Wars" that students can participate in if they desire.  All the proceeds are gong to a great cause, which is to help a school in Mexico purchase pencils, erasers, and other school supplies.

Spirit Night is this Tues. Nov. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chick-fil-A in Draper.  A portion of all proceeds benefit our school.

This week we also need to congratulate the following students who will be moving on from our class to the finals in the Speech Festival on Wed. Good luck and great work!

In the Oratory Category:
Quinn Sackewitz

In the Drama Category:
Ellie Bouck
Blake Hullinger
Emri Serrasio.

This week in History we are finishing up our study of the Early people of Utah with students creating a Prehistoric Pyramid in class that shows how one of the 4 early people in Utah lived.

In Science we are beginning our study of Rocks and Minerals.  This is one of the student's favorite units of the year.  Thanks to a generous donation by Mrs. Hermanson (who taught 4th grade her at Summit for many years) and her husband, each of our 4th grade students will be given a set of Utah rocks that we will use during this unit and then students will take home.

Remember that our Poem of the month was our Speech Festival poem, so no assignment for any other memorization is due this month.

Also, remember to sign your student's planner page for reading 20 min.each day.  Students should return it each Monday.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Romriell
