Webpages & Events

Dear Parents,

We have heard from a few parents letting us know that they are not sure how to access the class webpages for assignments in Language Arts, Math, and Homeroom. You will want to access it by going on to Summit Academy’s webpage http://draper.summitacademyschools.org/. Then you can do one of the two following things:

  1. Go to Academics and click on class webpages. You can then select First Grade and then choose which teacher you need for Language Arts, Math, or Homeroom. On the right you will see the new assignments for the week. You can click on the subscribe to receive weekly updates.
  2. You can also select About Us in the category and go  to staff directory, click on the teacher’s name and it will have their classes available there as well. You can subscribe to their class page as well. You will see posts on a weekly basis.

In Language Arts you will see a book report and poem come home monthly. Students are expected to work on their spelling words throughout the week. We do work on them throughout the week, but it also takes some practice at home. We would encourage you to work on reading with your child 15-20 minutes per day. Lexia Core 5 would be considered as reading since it focuses on different skills in Language Arts. We would like to have every student finish First grade Lexia levels by the end of the year. We will have further information about Raz Kid Reading which is a program available to our school for reading and comprehension questions that is available to us. We will be sending home information on how to access this information.

In Math each student will receive weekly homework on Monday and will return it on Friday. Saxon Math will be homework each night if it is not completed in the classroom and will be collected on Friday. Students will want to work on Math Facts which can range from one digit addition/subtraction, to two digit addition/subtraction. Flashcards will be given previous to the test on colored cardstock.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You can also email any of your child’s teachers if you have further questions. We would love to have volunteers in the classroom during Language Arts (8:40-11:00 AM) or Math (11:50 AM -1:00 PM) if you are available.

September 27th and 28th are parent/ teacher conferences. You will be meeting with your child’s LA teacher, so please make sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher. The link is : https://summit.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php
